What is a ketogenic diet and how does it work?
The ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that can help people lose weight and improve their health. It has been shown to have many health benefits against diseases such as diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s disease.
This procedure works by replacing carbohydrates with fat. It gets your body into a metabolic state known as ketosis.
When this happens, your body uses fat to burn energy. It also turns the energy into ketones in the liver.
Ketosis diets can help control blood sugar and insulin levels. They can also boost the levels of ketones.
Ketosis occurs when you reduce your carbohydrate consumption to a level that limits the supply of glucose to the cells. Following a low-carb diet is the best way to enter ketosis. This strategy involves limiting your daily carbohydrate consumption to around 20 to 50 g and filling up on fat-rich meals such as eggs, fish, and healthy oils. You will know that you have entered a state of Ketosis when you start having increased thirst, a dry mouth, frequent urination, and a decreased hunger or appetite.
I myself have tried this diet and it has worked like magic. I usually am an active person, but through this lockdown I got less and less exercise and gained a lot of weight. I was not happy with myself and really wanted to change something. An Important part is having a Diet Plan you can follow.
